TCM: Guide to Formulas and Syndromes

by Dan Schalm R.Ac, R.TCMP

The outline of TCM formulas and TCM syndromes below was designed to help students study for licensing exams in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Reports back to me indicated that this was a valuable study tool, so I am posting it here for anyone to use. The content is based on the book 'Advanced textbook on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacology' published by New World Press. It still remains a valuable reference to me.

After each herb (most of them) there is a number which refers to the name of the formula as translated to English. Unfortunately, those formulas, except the most popular ones like "Six Gentlemen Decoction" are known to practitioners and students mostly by their pinyin name, such as Liu Wei Di Huang Wan. However, the number was placed so that students can refer to the actual name translation if they wanted. The purpose of this outline was to translate the formulas into a name that was easily recognized and condense the book into an outline form.
